relating to the failure to attend school for part of a day. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 25.094, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | ||
(a-1) For purposes of Subsection (a), an individual fails to | ||
attend school on a part of a day only if the individual misses: | ||
(1) more than 15 percent of an instructional day; or | ||
(2) more than 15 percent of a class period. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 51.03, Family Code, is amended by adding | ||
Subsection (h) to read as follows: | ||
(h) For purposes of Subsection (b)(2), a child is absent for | ||
a part of a day only if the child misses: | ||
(1) more than 15 percent of an instructional day; or | ||
(2) more than 15 percent of a class period. | ||
SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to an offense committed or conduct violating a penal law that occurs | ||
on or after the effective date of this Act. An offense committed or | ||
conduct that occurs before the effective date of this Act is | ||
governed by the law in effect on the date the offense was committed | ||
or conduct occurred, and the former law is continued in effect for | ||
that purpose. For purposes of this section, an offense was | ||
committed or conduct violating a penal law occurred before the | ||
effective date of this Act if any element of the offense or | ||
violation occurred before that date. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
