relating to a study regarding the feasibility of integrating into | ||
the electric grid facilities that use nuclear energy to generate | ||
electricity. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. STUDY. The chancellor of The University of Texas | ||
System shall designate a department or entity at the university to | ||
conduct a study regarding the feasibility of integrating into the | ||
electric grid additional facilities that use nuclear energy to | ||
generate electricity, including a comparison of the costs and | ||
benefits of nuclear fusion reactors and nuclear fission reactors. | ||
SECTION 2. REPORT. The department or entity at The | ||
University of Texas System designated by the chancellor of the | ||
university system to conduct the study under Section 1 of this Act | ||
shall prepare a report with the conclusions of the study and submit | ||
the report to the legislature not later than September 1, 2024. | ||
SECTION 3. EXPIRATION. This Act expires December 1, 2024. | ||
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | ||
1, 2023. |
