relating to the creation by the Texas Commission on Environmental | ||
Quality of a plan to protect water treatment facilities from | ||
catastrophes. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Commission on Environmental | ||
Quality shall create a plan to protect water treatment facilities | ||
from: | ||
(1) electrical outages; | ||
(2) catastrophic weather events; | ||
(3) terrorist attacks; | ||
(4) the projected effects of climate change; and | ||
(5) other potential disruptions to providing water | ||
service. | ||
(b) The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall | ||
consult with other state agencies or interested persons as needed | ||
to facilitate the creation of the plan. | ||
(c) Not later than September 1, 2024, the Texas Commission | ||
on Environmental Quality shall submit the plan to the governor and | ||
the legislature. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
