relating to the expiration dates of concealed handgun licenses for | ||
certain members of the United States armed forces. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 411.183, Government Code, is amended by | ||
amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (e) to read as | ||
follows: | ||
(b) A renewed license expires on the license holder's | ||
birthday [ |

of the previous license. | ||
(e) If the expiration date for an original, duplicate, | ||
modified, or renewed license of a member of the United States armed | ||
forces occurs while the license holder is on active duty deployed | ||
outside of the United States, the license does not expire on that | ||
date but remains valid until the first birthday of the license | ||
holder occurring after the license holder's return from deployment. | ||
A license holder may not receive consecutive extensions for the | ||
license under this subsection. For purposes of this subsection, | ||
"United States armed forces" includes the reserves and national | ||
guard. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
