BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 318.021, Local Government Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 318.021. APPROPRIATIONS TO HISTORICAL FOUNDATIONS: | ||
CERTAIN COUNTIES. The commissioners court of a county with a | ||
population of 150,000 [ |

from the general fund of the county to a historical foundation or | ||
organization in the county for the purpose of purchasing, | ||
constructing, restoring, preserving, maintaining, or | ||
reconstructing historical landmarks, buildings, and furnishings | ||
that are of historical significance to the county. The foundation | ||
or organization must be incorporated under the law of this state as | ||
a nonprofit corporation. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
