compliance with accessibility standards. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 31, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 31.0222 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 31.0222. REVIEW OF COMPLIANCE WITH ACCESSIBILITY | ||
STANDARDS. (a) In addition to any review of the content and | ||
factual accuracy of submitted instructional materials required by | ||
this chapter, the State Board of Education or the commissioner, as | ||
applicable, shall ensure that a separate review is performed of | ||
instructional materials designed to be delivered electronically to | ||
verify that the materials comply with applicable accessibility | ||
standards, including the technical standards of Section 508, | ||
Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. Section 794d). | ||
(b) The results of the review required by this section must | ||
be provided in conjunction with the results of the review of the | ||
content and factual accuracy. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 31.0222, Education Code, as added by | ||
this Act, applies only to instructional materials submitted to the | ||
State Board of Education or commissioner of education for review on | ||
or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
