relating to the qualifications for counselors for battering | ||
intervention and prevention programs in certain counties. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 5, Article 42.141, Code of Criminal | ||
Procedure, is amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
(d) A person who provides direct battering intervention | ||
counseling services to a batterer for a program located in a county | ||
with a population of more than 50,000 must be licensed as a social | ||
worker, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or | ||
psychologist or a licensed physician who is board certified in | ||
psychiatry. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2014. |
