law. | ||
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 56, Article III, Texas Constitution, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
(c) The Legislature shall impose on any special purpose | ||
district created after December 31, 2018 under general law or by | ||
special local law a maximum rate of ad valorem tax for maintenance | ||
and operations and a maximum amount of debt that may be authorized | ||
by the district. | ||
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2017. | ||
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
proposition: "The constitutional amendment requiring the | ||
Legislature to establish limitations on the rate of taxation and | ||
amount of debt for special purpose districts created by general law | ||
or special local law." |
