proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature | ||

subdivisions of this state property located near a public school or | ||
within a municipal management district that is owned for the | ||
purpose of building low-income housing. | ||
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is amended by | ||
adding Section 1-w to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 1-w. (a) The legislature by general law may exempt | ||
from ad valorem taxation by one or more political subdivisions of | ||
this state property located near a public school or within a | ||
municipal management district created under general or special law | ||
to accomplish the purposes of Sections 52 and 52-a, Article III, and | ||
Section 59, Article XVI, of this constitution that is owned by a | ||
person for the purpose of building low-income housing on the | ||
property. | ||
(b) The legislature may provide additional eligibility | ||
requirements for an exemption authorized by this section. | ||
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019. | ||
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the | ||
legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation by one or more | ||
political subdivisions of this state property located near a public | ||
school or within a municipal management district that is owned for | ||
the purpose of building low-income housing." |
