WHEREAS, Residents of La Porte are gathering together for the | ||
2017 National Night Out Against Crime; and | ||
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, | ||
this annual event provides an opportunity for Texans to join forces | ||
with individuals in thousands of other towns and cities across the | ||
country to promote cooperative crime prevention efforts; and | ||
WHEREAS, Each year, neighborhoods host cookouts, parades, | ||
flashlight walks, and other activities for National Night Out, | ||
helping to build community cohesiveness, strengthen relations | ||
between residents and local police, and increase awareness of | ||
anticrime strategies while sending a message of solidarity to | ||
would-be criminals; and | ||
WHEREAS, The importance of reducing crime, drug use, and | ||
violence cannot be overstated, and by taking part in National Night | ||
Out observances, Texans affirm their commitment to making their | ||
communities stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize the 2017 National Night Out Against | ||
Crime in La Porte as an essential crime prevention event and commend | ||
all those involved in this vital endeavor. | ||
