R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 85th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
  cause for celebration, and Juandelle Wainscott Lacy Roberts of
  Midland is marking this notable milestone in her life on January 23,
  2013; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of the Reverend and Mrs. C. E.
  Wainscott, the former Juandelle Wainscott was born in 1928 in
  Quitaque; she performed her first solo at the age of three and has
  maintained a love of music throughout her life, supporting
  symphonies wherever she lives and hosting an annual Christmas
  sing-along event; and
         WHEREAS, In 1945, she married James W. Lacy, with whom she
  raised two children; the philanthropic couple supported Baptist and
  other evangelical missionary work across the Americas, Africa,
  Eastern Europe, and Asia and funded a school for gypsy children in
  Romania; moreover, they began the Excalibur Round Table that
  benefits cancer research and established the Wainscott-Lacy
  Memorial Fund scholarship program for students at Baptist schools
  and an engineering scholarship for students at Texas Tech
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Following the death of Mr. Lacy, she was fortunate
  enough to find love again in her marriage with W. V. "Red" Roberts;
  and
         WHEREAS, A woman of strong convictions, Mrs. Roberts has been
  a staunch supporter of the Republican Party for more than 55 years,
  and she has worked for the GOP across three states; a member of the
  prestigious Texas Federation of Republican Women, she was elected
  to serve the party as Tulsa County chair; over the years, she has
  worked on countless political campaigns, and she even once mentored
  a young George W. Bush when he ran for state office; and
         WHEREAS, Juandelle Roberts is a source of joy and inspiration
  to her family and friends, and it is a pleasure to honor her on eight
  and a half decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Juandelle Wainscott Lacy Roberts
  on her 85th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Roberts as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
