R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Furthering its reputation as a volleyball
  powerhouse, the team from Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas
  captured its third consecutive state championship with a victory in
  the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 5A title
  game on November 8, 2014; and
         WHEREAS, In claiming the crown, the Lady Friars capped a
  remarkable season in which they finished with a record of 35 wins
  and just 9 losses; Bishop Lynch began its march through the playoffs
  by handily winning its first two postseason matches against
  Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School and St. Anthony Catholic High
  School; the Lady Friars then defeated Antonian College Preparatory
  High School by the score of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-18 to earn their
  spot in the finals; and
         WHEREAS, There, Bishop Lynch took on the squad from Ursuline
  Academy in a rematch of the 2013 state championship game; the Lady
  Friars dropped the first set by a score of 17-25, but they rallied
  for a 25-13 second set win to tie the match; the team pulled out a
  narrow 25-22 victory in the third set, before ultimately securing
  the 5A title by winning a back-and-forth battle in the fourth set by
  the score of 29-27; and
         WHEREAS, Benefiting from strong teamwork throughout the
  season, the Lady Friars received outstanding contributions from
  each member of the roster: Bitsy Root, Briana Kipp, Callie
  Williams, Catherine Balido, Chynna Phung, Danielle Nevitt, Elena
  Macaluso, Francesca Goncalves, Haley Puddy, Hannah Puddy, Kat
  Stephanian, Lauren Chester, Madi Tyus, Marcella Barrilleaux,
  Melanie Heigele, Morgan Reed, and Sofia Schleppenbach; and
         WHEREAS, Head coach Tricia Roos and assistant coach Josh
  Kreuter provided exceptional guidance to the Lady Friars throughout
  their memorable season, schooling the players in volleyball
  fundamentals and inspiring them to reach their full potential on
  the court; and
         WHEREAS, The Bishop Lynch High School Lady Friars have
  demonstrated the dedication and skill necessary to repeatedly reach
  the ultimate level of success, and their achievements will remain a
  cherished memory for the athletes and their supporters for many
  years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Bishop Lynch High School
  volleyball team on winning the 2014 TAPPS 5A state championship and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
