WHEREAS, William Boyce, a senior at Onalaska High School, | ||
achieved great distinction by winning three gold medals at the 2021 | ||
University Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and | ||
WHEREAS, Joining the other top 3A competitors in Texas at | ||
Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 6, Mr. Boyce captured a trio | ||
of state titles in distance running events, recording times of 1 | ||
minute, 54.71 seconds, in the 800 meters, 4 minutes, 26.37 seconds, | ||
in the 1,600 meters, and 9 minutes, 27.31 seconds, in the 3,200 | ||
meters; despite being the only state meet qualifier from his | ||
school, his three medals clinched second place for Onalaska in the | ||
team standings; moreover, this exceptional student-athlete | ||
previously won the 2020 UIL 3A cross country championship; and | ||
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for | ||
high school track and field athletes, this talented young Texan has | ||
ably represented his school and community, and he will cherish his | ||
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate William Boyce on winning three gold | ||
medals at the 2021 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to him | ||
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Boyce as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
