R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Friends and family will long cherish their memories
  of Joe Edmon Cox of Kaufman, who passed away on November 19, 2020,
  at the age of 99; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Kaufman on February 18, 1921, Joe Cox was the
  son of John P. and Eula Mapp Cox, and he grew up with the
  companionship of eight siblings, Emmitt, Lonnie, Ethel, Geneva,
  Hazel, Sally, Dorothy, and Mary Lou; in 1942, he answered his
  nation's call to duty and joined the United States Army; he was
  stationed in several locations in Africa and Europe during World
  War II, and at the time of his passing, he was Kaufman County's
  oldest veteran of that war; and
         WHEREAS, Following his return to civilian life, Mr. Cox
  established Kaufman Mattress Factory, which he owned and operated
  until 2001; he also served his community as a school bus driver for
  many years; in his leisure time, he enjoyed raising cattle and
  visiting local coffee shops to socialize and "solve the world's
  problems" with his friends; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cox and his wife, Alice, shared a rewarding
  marriage that spanned 72 years until the time of her passing in
  2018; he took great pride in his children, Larry, Sandra, and
  Sharon, and he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include
  nine grandchildren, Casey, Julie, Maurie, Megan, Meredith,
  Madalyn, Justin, Alicia, and Dustin, and seven
  great-grandchildren, Max, Charli Jo, Ava, Emma, Eleanor, Henry, and
  Rylie; he could often be found supporting and cheering for them at
  all of their sporting events and activities; a man of faith, he was
  a valued congregant of the Kaufman Church of Christ; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a proud military veteran,
  Joe Cox lived a rich and purposeful life, and he leaves behind a
  legacy that will forever be treasured by all those who had the
  pleasure to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Joe Edmon Cox and
  extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe Edmon
  Cox.
