R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Wrestler Javier Vasquez of Vernon High School
  enjoyed a successful 2016-2017 campaign, advancing all the way to
  the finals in the 113-pound weight division of the University
  Interscholastic League Class 5A State Tournament, held in Cypress
  on February 24 and 25, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating remarkable skill and dedication,
  Mr. Vasquez triumphed over his opponents in the first three rounds
  of the competition; he put up a determined effort in the finale but
  ultimately fell short, finishing in second place; and
         WHEREAS, With his notable run at the state tournament,
  Mr. Vasquez capped off a memorable senior season in which he
  accumulated an impressive overall record of 27 wins and just 5
  losses and helped Vernon secure seventh place in the 5A team
  standings; and
         WHEREAS, By excelling on the mat, Javier Vasquez has garnered
  the admiration of his fellow students and his many supporters in the
  local community, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his notable
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Javier Vasquez on winning second
  place at the 2017 UIL 5A Wrestling State Tournament in the 113-pound
  weight class and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Vasquez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
