| WHEREAS, For 30 years, Camp Kadima in El Paso has provided | ||
| children and adults with special needs the chance to experience the | ||
| fun, excitement, and friendship of a summer camp; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Camp Kadima is a three-week-long summer day camp | ||
| designed to accommodate persons with a range of physical and | ||
| developmental disabilities; supported and overseen by the Jewish | ||
| Federation of Greater El Paso, the camp hosted its first season in | ||
| 1987, and now it has grown from five to nearly 30 campers, some of | ||
| whom have attended the camp almost since it opened; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Activities that foster the development of motor, | ||
| communication, and social skills are offered both on and off | ||
| campus, and campers, who are encouraged to participate in | ||
| activities to the best of their abilities, have the opportunity to | ||
| learn practical skills that can help them live more independently; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Now led by Robin Gold, administrator, and Tom | ||
| Murphy, director, Camp Kadima is helping individuals with | ||
| disabilities learn, grow, and create memories that will last a | ||
| lifetime, and all those involved in this exemplary program may take | ||
| great pride in all that they are achieving; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Camp Kadima on its | ||
| 30th anniversary and extend to the program's organizers and | ||
| participants sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Camp Kadima as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
