R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, In a display of skill and teamwork, the Corpus
  Christi Independent School District All-Stars made an outstanding
  showing at the Special Olympics Area 20 Basketball Competition held
  on February 25 and 26, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Playing at Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, the
  three teams from Corpus Christi ISD all brought home medals,
  finishing third or better in their respective divisions; and
         WHEREAS, As the winner of its division, the Blue Team was
  awarded the gold medal; the members of the roster include Mary
  Howard, who served as captain, Zak Wheeler, Joshua Placker, Jammie
  Cox, Beau Roberts, Julian Clark, Selena Segovia, and Jeremy Franco;
  the squad is coached by Patti Engleking, Lori Perez, and Joseph
  Sanchez; and
         WHEREAS, The Purple Team was runner-up against its opponents
  and came away with a silver medal; coached by Harry Pearreal, Laine
  Meyers, and Julio Martinez, the team is made up of captain Monique
  Capetillo, Daniel Forsythe, Tony Harris, Brandon Rodriguez, George
  Torres, Chris Sayles, Randy Garcia, Mark Gonzalez, and Ken Webster;
  and
         WHEREAS, In their division, the members of the Red Team
  claimed the bronze medal after battling to a third-place finish;
  this determined group of players includes captain E. J. Arias,
  Orlando Barrientes, Jessica Jimenez, Cory Seale, Krystal Garcia,
  C. J. Galvan, Lizzy Wheeler, and Morgan Butler, with Belinda
  Canales, Diana Garza, and Angel Acosta serving as coaches; and
         WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi ISD All-Stars played hard and had
  fun at the San Antonio tournament, and these young athletes may take
  justifiable pride in their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Corpus Christi
  ISD All-Stars for their success at the Special Olympics Area 20
  Basketball Competition and extend to the players and coaches
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
  for the teams as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
  Representatives.
