WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Joe | ||
Fredrick Bean of Ozona, who passed away on June 18, 2017, at the age | ||
of 86; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born on September 24, 1930, to George James and Vada | ||
Jenkins Bean, Joe Bean grew up on his family's ranch in Crockett | ||
County, and he attended San Angelo High School, where he played for | ||
the Bobcats football team; while a student there, he met the former | ||
Marolyn Powell, and the couple married on September 5, 1950; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Bean served his country in Japan and Korea as a | ||
member of the United States Army from 1952 to 1954; following his | ||
discharge, he returned to Texas, and he and his wife started their | ||
family, which grew to include three children, David Joe, George | ||
Douglas, and James Daniel; Mr. Bean and his sons eventually joined | ||
together to form the 4-D Ranch Company; and | ||
WHEREAS, A longtime member of the Baptist church, Mr. Bean | ||
was also deeply involved in civic life, serving as chair of the | ||
Ozona Bank board of directors, as president of the Crockett County | ||
school board, as a director of the Robert Massie Foundation, and as | ||
a member of the Crockett County Cemetery Board; he was a leader in | ||
the ranching community as well and served as a member of the | ||
Agriculture Stability and Conservation Committee, the Crockett | ||
County FHA Committee, the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association, | ||
and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association; and | ||
WHEREAS, Over the course of their 66-year marriage, Mr. and | ||
Mrs. Bean took pleasure in traveling all over the world, visiting | ||
each of the lower 48 states and enjoying trips abroad to Australia, | ||
Europe, and South America; above all else, Mr. Bean deeply | ||
cherished his family, and he delighted in spending time with his 4 | ||
grandchildren and his 12 great-grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, Joe Bean set an inspiring example through his | ||
devotion to his loved ones and his outstanding record of service to | ||
his profession and community, and he will forever be remembered | ||
with deep affection and admiration; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of | ||
Joe Fredrick Bean and extend heartfelt sympathy to all those who | ||
mourn his passing; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe | ||
Fredrick Bean. |
