| WHEREAS, The Hispanic National Bar Association is holding its | ||
| 36th annual convention in Dallas on August 31 through September 3, | ||
| 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The association represents the interests of more | ||
| than 100,000 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, legal | ||
| assistants, and law students in the United States and its | ||
| territories; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since its founding three decades ago, the group has | ||
| worked to encourage Latino students to choose a career in law and to | ||
| promote their advancement within the profession by providing issue | ||
| advocacy, programmatic activities, networking events, and | ||
| educational conferences; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The 2011 convention, with the theme "Forging the | ||
| Future Together," is being hosted by the Dallas Hispanic Bar | ||
| Association, which is guided by a mission to promote the social, | ||
| economic, educational, and civic advancement of the Hispanic | ||
| community of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex by making the legal | ||
| system more accessible to that community and more responsive to its | ||
| needs; the group is ably led by its president, civil district court | ||
| associate judge Teresa Guerra Snelson, who is co-chairing the event | ||
| with DHBA director Christie M. Villarreal; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Hispanic National Bar Association has provided a | ||
| voice and meeting ground for Hispanic legal professionals and has | ||
| rendered exemplary service both to its members and to the greater | ||
| community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commemorate the 36th annual convention of the | ||
| Hispanic National Bar Association and extend to the members of the | ||
| Dallas Hispanic Bar Association and all those in attendance sincere | ||
| best wishes for a meaningful and memorable event; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Dallas | ||
| Hispanic Bar Association as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
