R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Evelyn Dickerson was inducted into the African
  American Educators Hall of Fame on April 18, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The hall of fame is part of the African American
  Education Archives and History Program, which since its founding in
  2002 has focused on the vital role that education has played in the
  African American experience in Dallas County; the organization
  preserves important artifacts, documents, visual images, and oral
  accounts, and its African American Educators Hall of Fame raises
  public awareness of the significant contributions made by teachers,
  administrators, librarians, and others; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Dickerson began her career in Terrell in 1963 as
  a physical education teacher and coach for softball and track and
  field; over a period of several decades, much of which was spent in
  Dallas public schools, she served as a classroom teacher, advised
  fellow educators, counseled students, developed curricula, and
  volunteered with a number of youth-focused organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Among her many achievements, Ms. Dickerson designed
  and implemented a model education program for inner-city children
  at the Jimmie Tyler Brashear Early Childhood Development Center;
  she has further devoted her time and talents to other educational
  programs and community service projects in the Dallas/Fort Worth
  Metroplex, one of which included leading a literacy project; in
  addition, this public-spirited woman has spent over two decades as
  a prominent volunteer leader for the United Negro College Fund; and
         WHEREAS, Through her outstanding accomplishments, Evelyn
  Dickerson has made a positive difference in the lives of countless
  Texans, and she may take justifiable pride in this prestigious
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Evelyn Dickerson on her induction
  into the African American Educators Hall of Fame and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Dickerson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
