WHEREAS, Rod Schroder, superintendent of the Amarillo | ||
Independent School District, has been named 2014 Superintendent of | ||
the Year for Education Service Center Region 16; and | ||
WHEREAS, Since 1984, the Texas Association of School Boards | ||
has sponsored this annual award to recognize local school district | ||
superintendents for their strong leadership skills, their | ||
dedication to improving educational quality, student performance, | ||
and employee relations, and their commitment to public involvement | ||
in education; those receiving regional designations are honored at | ||
the Texas Association of School Administrators/TASB annual | ||
convention; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Schroder has more than 37 years of experience in | ||
the Amarillo ISD, initially serving eight years as a junior high and | ||
high school mathematics, physical science, calculus, and physics | ||
teacher and an athletics coach; he first moved into management as | ||
the school district assistant athletic director and subsequently | ||
rose to positions as secondary personnel director, assistant | ||
superintendent of personnel, and district superintendent; and | ||
WHEREAS, In addition to his professional duties, this | ||
esteemed administrator has given of his time and talent as a | ||
two-time president of the Texas School Alliance, co-chair of the | ||
2003 United Way Campaign, chair of the Paramount Baptist Church | ||
Board of Deacons, and member of several Texas Association of School | ||
Administrators committees; he also serves on the Amarillo Education | ||
Foundation and Amarillo Area Foundation boards, the Texas Panhandle | ||
P-16 Council executive committee, and the Public Education | ||
Visioning Institute Design Team; and | ||
WHEREAS, Previously chosen as Region 16 Superintendent of the | ||
Year in 2003, Mr. Schroder has garnered other such accolades, | ||
including 2009 West Texas A&M University Graduate of Distinction | ||
and 2011 Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year; and | ||
WHEREAS, Over the course of his impressive Amarillo ISD | ||
tenure, Rod Schroder has worked tirelessly in behalf of area | ||
students and has contributed immensely to advancing public | ||
education in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature congratulate Rod Schroder on his selection as 2014 | ||
Region 16 Superintendent of the Year and extend to him sincere best | ||
wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Schroder as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
