WHEREAS, Dr. John E. Chapman III, superintendent of the Ennis | ||
Independent School District, has been named the 2017 Superintendent | ||
of the Year for Education Service Center Region 10; and | ||
WHEREAS, The Texas Association of School Boards has sponsored | ||
this annual award to recognize local school district | ||
superintendents for their leadership since 1984; those receiving | ||
the regional-level designation are honored at the Texas Association | ||
of School Administrators/TASB annual convention and are eligible to | ||
be considered for selection as state Superintendent of the Year; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Dr. Chapman began his career in Lubbock as a teacher | ||
and coach; he went on to serve as a K-12 assistant principal, junior | ||
high school principal, and high school principal before assuming | ||
his first superintendent's post with Chillicothe ISD, which was | ||
named one of the best districts in the nation by U.S. News and World | ||
Report during his tenure; and | ||
WHEREAS, In 2007, this veteran educator became | ||
superintendent for Comfort ISD, where he won the Gifted and | ||
Talented Administrator of the Year Award; in 2013, he was named | ||
Region 13 Superintendent of the Year and a state Superintendent of | ||
the Year finalist; he has served as superintendent of Ennis ISD | ||
since January 2014; and | ||
WHEREAS, A graduate of McMurry University, Dr. Chapman holds | ||
a master's degree from Wayland Baptist University and an Ed.D. in | ||
educational leadership from Texas Tech University; and | ||
WHEREAS, Throughout his impressive career, John Chapman has | ||
worked tirelessly in behalf of students, teachers, and parents, and | ||
he has contributed immeasurably to the advancement of public | ||
education in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. John E. | ||
Chapman III on being named Region 10 Superintendent of the Year and | ||
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his | ||
important work; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Dr. Chapman as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
