WHEREAS, Curtis Poovey began his new appointment as the chief | ||
of the Richardson Fire Department on January 1, 2017, and this is a | ||
fitting opportunity to celebrate his exemplary 23-year tenure with | ||
the department; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Poovey joined the Richardson Fire Department as | ||
a firefighter in May 1993, and he quickly rose through the ranks, | ||
earning promotion to lieutenant in 1999, captain in 2001, and | ||
battalion chief in 2009; since January 2016, he has served as the | ||
department's assistant chief of operations; and | ||
WHEREAS, This veteran first responder has been certified as a | ||
fire executive by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association, and he is a | ||
graduate of the Fire Service Chief Executive Officer Program at | ||
Texas A&M University; he also holds certifications as a hazardous | ||
materials incident commander, paramedic, level 3 instructor, and | ||
fire officer IV; and | ||
WHEREAS, A leader in his field, Chief Poovey has served as | ||
president of the Dallas County Fire Chiefs Association and as a | ||
member of the Paramedic Advisory Board for Richland College and The | ||
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center; in addition, he is | ||
a Medical Incident Support Team member and a task force leader for | ||
the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force; and | ||
WHEREAS, Chief Poovey's dedication to the highest standards | ||
of his profession has greatly benefited the residents of Richardson | ||
and earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may | ||
indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as he takes on | ||
the challenges and opportunities of his new position; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Curtis Poovey on his appointment as | ||
chief of the Richardson Fire Department and extend to him sincere | ||
best wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Chief Poovey as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
