WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Dorothy | ||
Jean Kelley Phillips of Waxahachie, who passed away on January 28, | ||
2017, at the age of 71; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born to Duard and Martha Kelley on September 8, | ||
1945, the former Dorothy Kelley grew up with two sisters, Elizabeth | ||
and Barbara, and a brother, Mike; she graduated from Waxahachie | ||
High School in 1963 and that same year married the love of her life, | ||
Burlin Phillips; over the course of their 53 rewarding years | ||
together, the couple were blessed with three sons, Rodney, Russell, | ||
and Richard Phillips, and six grandchildren, Rhyan, Kaileb, | ||
Jessica, Kelly, Bailey, and Whitney Phillips; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Phillips worked for many years as the secretary | ||
at Ferris Avenue Baptist Church, and in 1984, she embarked on a | ||
rewarding career with the Ellis County Appraisal District that | ||
spanned more than two decades; she retired in 2005; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Phillips was a valued member | ||
of Bible Baptist Church; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Dorothy Phillips will be deeply missed, | ||
cherished memories of time spent in her company will long endure in | ||
the hearts of all those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorothy Jean Kelley | ||
Phillips and extend sincere condolences to her many relatives and | ||
friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorothy | ||
Phillips. |
