| relating to the office of water and the water advisory committee in | ||
| the Department of Agriculture. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Title 7, Agriculture Code, is amended by adding | ||
| Chapter 204 to read as follows: | ||
| CHAPTER 204. OFFICE OF WATER; WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE | ||
| Sec. 204.001. OFFICE OF WATER. (a) The commissioner shall | ||
| establish an office of water within the department. | ||
| (b) The office shall support: | ||
| (1) the department's goals and objectives related to | ||
| agricultural water use; and | ||
| (2) the development of programs related to | ||
| agricultural water use. | ||
| Sec. 204.002. WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE. (a) The | ||
| commissioner shall appoint a water advisory committee to advise the | ||
| commissioner, the department, and the office of water on | ||
| agricultural water use. | ||
| (b) The committee consists of nine members appointed by the | ||
| commissioner. The commissioner shall appoint members who represent | ||
| diverse sections of agriculture and diverse regions of the state. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
