| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 33, Health and Safety | ||
| Code, is amended by adding Section 33.0022 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 33.0022. SEX CHROMOSOME STRUCTURE TEST. | ||
| Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the department | ||
| shall include a sex chromosome structure test in the detection and | ||
| treatment program established under this chapter, in the screening | ||
| for heritable diseases conducted under Subchapter B, and in the | ||
| newborn screening services provided under Subchapter C. | ||
| SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date | ||
| of this Act, the Department of State Health Services shall | ||
| implement Section 33.0022, Health and Safety Code, as added by this | ||
| Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
