BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 155.051(b), Occupations Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(b) An applicant who is a graduate of a program designed to | ||
lead to both a doctor of philosophy degree and a doctor of medicine | ||
degree or doctor of osteopathy degree must pass each part of an | ||
examination described by Section 155.0511(2), (3), (4), (6), or (7) | ||
not later than the earlier of the second anniversary of the date the | ||
applicant completed all [ |

by the applicant, including internship, residency, and fellowship, | ||
or the 12th anniversary of the date the applicant began the graduate | ||
medical training [ |
||
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date | ||
of this Act, the Texas Medical Board shall adopt rules necessary to | ||
implement Section 155.051, Occupations Code, as amended by this | ||
Act. | ||
SECTION 3. Section 155.051, Occupations Code, as amended by | ||
this Act, applies to an application for a license to practice | ||
medicine issued under Chapter 155, Occupations Code, regardless of | ||
whether the application is submitted before, on, or after the | ||
effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
