BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 132, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 132.007 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 132.007. COSMETOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAM; PRACTICAL | ||
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS. (a) A public junior college or career | ||
school or college may administer any practical examination required | ||
by law for the practice of cosmetology. | ||
(b) Notwithstanding any other provision in the law, any | ||
person sitting for a professional exam for the practice of | ||
cosmetology must have completed a minimum of 1,000 hours of | ||
instruction, including a minimum of 150 hours of instruction in | ||
sanitation and safety, in a beauty culture course or in a vocational | ||
cosmetology program in a public school, including a junior college | ||
or career school or college. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
