relating to the provision of electronic sample copies of a textbook | ||
adopted by the State Board of Education. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 31.022, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: | ||
(d-1) A notice published under Subsection (d) must state | ||
that a publisher of an adopted textbook for a grade level other than | ||
prekindergarten must submit an electronic sample copy of the | ||
textbook as required by Sections 31.027(a) and (b) and may not | ||
submit a print sample copy. | ||
SECTION 2. Subsections (a) and (b), Section 31.027, | ||
Education Code, are amended to read as follows: | ||
(a) A publisher shall provide each school district and | ||
open-enrollment charter school with information that fully | ||
describes each of the publisher's adopted textbooks. On request of | ||
a school district, a publisher shall provide an electronic [ |

sample copy of an adopted textbook. | ||
(b) A publisher shall provide at least two electronic sample | ||
copies of each adopted textbook to be maintained at each regional | ||
education service center. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
