relating to the use of light-emitting diode (LED) light bulbs in | ||
state buildings. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 2165.009, Government Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
Sec. 2165.009. ENERGY-EFFICIENT LIGHT BULBS IN STATE | ||
BUILDINGS. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a [ |
||
agency or institution of higher education in charge and control of a | ||
state building shall purchase for use in each type of light fixture | ||
in the building the commercially available model of light-emitting | ||
diode (LED) light bulb that: | ||
(1) uses the fewest watts for the necessary luminous | ||
flux or light output; and | ||
(2) is compatible with the light fixture. | ||
(b) A state agency or institution of higher education under | ||
Subsection (a) may purchase a light bulb other than an LED light | ||
bulb if the use of an LED light bulb is incompatible with the light | ||
fixture or is otherwise impracticable. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
