A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a report by the Texas Workforce Commission regarding
certain employee issues.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 301, Labor Code, is
amended by adding Section 301.0655 to read as follows:
Sec. 301.0655. REPORT ON EMPLOYEE ISSUES. (a) In this
section, "labor commissioner" means the member of the commission
who is appointed as a representative of labor under Section
301.002.
(b) The commission shall report, not later than January 1 of
each odd-numbered year, to the governor, lieutenant governor,
speaker of the house of representatives, and chairs of the
legislative committees with appropriate jurisdiction:
(1) a description of the activities of the commission;
(2) a description of any problems confronted by public
and private employees, as determined by the labor commissioner; and
(3) any recommendations for regulatory and
legislative action to address any problems identified under
Subdivision (2).
(c) The commission may recommend proposed legislation to
the legislature that the labor commissioner determines would
positively affect the interests of public and private employees.
(d) The commission shall publish the report on the
commission's Internet website.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
