relating to an investigation unit within the Health and Human | ||
Services Commission for certain unlicensed child-care facilities. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 531.0084 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 531.0084. INVESTIGATION UNIT FOR UNLICENSED | ||
CHILD-CARE FACILITIES. (a) The executive commissioner shall | ||
maintain a unit within the child-care licensing division of the | ||
commission consisting of investigators whose primary | ||
responsibility is to identify unlicensed child-care facilities and | ||
to initiate appropriate enforcement actions against those | ||
facilities. | ||
(b) The executive commissioner shall assign at least 35 | ||
full-time equivalent positions for the unit described by Subsection | ||
(a). | ||
SECTION 2. As soon as possible after the effective date of | ||
this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human | ||
Services Commission shall establish the investigation unit | ||
required by Section 531.0084, Government Code, as added by this | ||
Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
