BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter N, Chapter 411, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 411.404 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 411.404. RADIO INTEROPERABILITY IN COUNTIES AFFECTED | ||
BY OPERATION LONE STAR. In any county impacted by or adjacent to | ||
Operation Lone Star, the department shall ensure that all public | ||
safety entities have emergency radio infrastructure that allows | ||
inter operable communication between all other public safety | ||
entities, including communication between different types of | ||
public safety agencies. | ||
SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 411.2098 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 411.2098. MASS SHOOTING TRAINING. The department | ||
shall establish a process to train public safety entities including | ||
local law enforcement entities in response to a mass shooting | ||
event. The training must include the following: | ||
(1) protection of students in a mass shooting event at | ||
a school; | ||
(2) emergency medical response training in minimizing | ||
gun violence casualties; | ||
(3) tactics for denying an intruder entry into a | ||
classroom or school facility; and | ||
(4) the chain of command of command during a mass | ||
shooting event. | ||
SECTION 3. Except as otherwise provided by this Act, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
