relating to requiring the parent of a student enrolled in a school | ||
district to provide and update a parent's contact information. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 26, Education Code, is amended by adding | ||
Section 26.0125 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 26.0125. PARENT CONTACT INFORMATION REQUIRED. The | ||
parent of a student enrolled in a school district shall provide in | ||
writing to the district: | ||
(1) on enrollment of the student in the district and | ||
not later than two weeks after the beginning of each school year, | ||
the parent's address, phone number, and e-mail address; and | ||
(2) if the parent's contact information changes during | ||
the school year, not later than two weeks after the date the | ||
information changes, the parent's updated information. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 | ||
school year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
