| Alejandro Lopez Calderon | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Alejandro "Alex" Lopez | ||
| Calderon, who died January 22, 2013, at the age of 73; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Alex Calderon was born March 8, 1939, in Austin; | ||
| he graduated from Austin High School and served with distinction | ||
| for seven years as a member of the United States Marine Corps | ||
| Reserve; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He married the love of his life, Mary Esther | ||
| Hernandez, on July 22, 1961, and the couple raised three sons, | ||
| Alex, Ray, and Mark, who were a source of much pride and joy and | ||
| who blessed them with five grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Calderon established the Contessa Gallery and | ||
| Frame Shop in 1969; he drew on his entrepreneurial spirit and his | ||
| artistic sensibilities to make it an enduring success, and his | ||
| sons are proudly carrying on the family business; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and kindness, he gave | ||
| unselfishly to others; he was widely revered for his wisdom, his | ||
| generous spirit, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the | ||
| fullest; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he | ||
| leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his | ||
| large and loving extended family and his countless friends; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Alejandro Lopez Calderon; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Alejandro Lopez Calderon. | ||
