WHEREAS, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport was | ||
recognized by Airports Council International with a 2022 ASQ | ||
Award; and | ||
WHEREAS, Established in 2006, the annual ASQ Awards | ||
recognize airports that have demonstrated exceptional customer | ||
service based on survey data; in 2022, DFW Airport was honored as | ||
one of the best airports in North America serving over 40 million | ||
passengers per year; and | ||
WHEREAS, The cities of Dallas and Fort Worth joined | ||
together to open Dallas Fort Worth Regional Airport in 1974; with | ||
the addition of transnational flights, the facility was renamed | ||
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in 1985; over the | ||
succeeding years, the airport has continued to grow, | ||
establishing its own fire department, emergency medical | ||
services, and police force, and it became the first airport in | ||
the world to open its own emergency room in 2018; and | ||
WHEREAS, Located halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth, | ||
DFW Airport spans around 30 square miles on more than 17,000 | ||
acres of land, serving passengers from 168 gates at 5 terminals; | ||
the airport has earned numerous accolades for its exceptional | ||
operations and customer service, and it received a $35 million | ||
grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to further its | ||
goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030; and | ||
WHEREAS, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is | ||
indispensable to the transportation infrastructure of Texas, and | ||
its significant contributions to the Lone Star State and beyond | ||
make it a fitting recipient of this most recent honor; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, hereby congratulate Dallas Fort Worth International | ||
Airport on receiving a 2022 ASQ Award from Airports Council | ||
International and extend to all those associated with the airport | ||
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
prepared for DFW Airport as an expression of high regard from the | ||
Texas Senate. | ||
