| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Texas A&M Forest Service, which is celebrating its | ||
| centennial year in 2015; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas A&M Forest Service was created in 1915 | ||
| to manage the state's forest interests and all matters pertaining | ||
| to forestry within the jurisdiction of the state; it was the | ||
| first state forestry agency in the nation to be part of a | ||
| land-grant university system; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through the years, the service has operated on the | ||
| tenets of its call to serve, its duty to protect, and its | ||
| commitment to support the principles of cooperation and | ||
| partnership; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas A&M Forest Service is the state's lead | ||
| agency for wildfire suppression, and it has revolutionized the | ||
| way that states prevent and prepare for wildfires; the agency has | ||
| performed vital research in the field of conservation and in the | ||
| methods used to increase the size and productivity of the state's | ||
| forests; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The agency has for 100 years provided programs | ||
| that rely on the best scientific knowledge and practices to | ||
| protect the state's natural resources and support its forestry | ||
| industry; it is truly deserving of recognition for its legacy of | ||
| service; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the men and women of the Texas A&M | ||
| Forest Service on their hard work and dedication and extend to | ||
| them best wishes for a memorable centennial celebration; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the service as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
