WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Samuel Felix Mixon of | ||
Galveston on September 16, 2022, at the age of 14, has brought a | ||
tremendous loss to his family and many friends; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born in Houston on November 28, 2007, to devoted | ||
parents Kathryn and Scott Mixon, Sam Mixon was likewise adored by | ||
his older siblings, Kaitlyn and Sully; he embraced his adopted | ||
hometown of Galveston, where he had graduated from Trinity | ||
Episcopal School and recently begun his freshman year at Ball High | ||
School; he was a warm and friendly young man with a contagious smile | ||
and a wonderful sense of humor, and he endeared himself to a wide | ||
circle of friends, some of whom he had known since birth; and | ||
WHEREAS, A natural athlete, Sam excelled at baseball, | ||
basketball, soccer, skateboarding, and skimboarding, but he was | ||
most passionate about fishing; he had fond memories of going to Camp | ||
Longhorn during the summer and took great pleasure in boating with | ||
his friends; moreover, he had a keen ability to bring others | ||
together, and he was admired by everyone around him for his big | ||
heart and his kind and gentle nature; his faith was also an | ||
important part of his life, and he was baptized in the open waters | ||
of Galveston, a place that had always held such meaning for him; and | ||
WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Sam Mixon | ||
leaves behind countless people whose lives are far richer for | ||
having known him, and they will forever cherish their memories of | ||
this beloved young man; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature | ||
hereby pay tribute to the life of Samuel Felix Mixon and extend | ||
heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his parents, | ||
Kathryn and Scott Mixon; to his siblings, Kaitlyn and Sully Mixon; | ||
to his grandparents, Cindy and John Lee Sullivan; to his aunts and | ||
uncles, Elizabeth Hanlon and her husband, Chris, Rocky Sullivan and | ||
his wife, Kelsi, and Michelle Leslie and her husband, George; to his | ||
cousins, Sarah and Abbey Hanlon, James and John Sullivan, Marcell | ||
Drago Leslie, Marcella Tudeen and her husband, Mike, Kelley and | ||
George Georgiades, Kristen and John Berger, Todd and Sarah | ||
Sullivan, Johnny and Sydney Sullivan, and Billy and Jocelyn | ||
Sullivan; to his step-grandmother, Karen Mixon; to his great-uncle, | ||
Gerald Sullivan, and his wife, Susanne; and to his numerous other | ||
relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this | ||
day, it do so in memory of Sam Mixon. |
