WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Odel Crawford, who died January 15, | ||
2025, at the age of 72; and | ||
WHEREAS, Odel was born April 23, 1952, in Brownwood, and he | ||
graduated from Brownwood High School in 1970; he went on to earn a | ||
bachelor's degree in business administration and management from | ||
Abilene Christian University; and | ||
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Mr. Crawford | ||
dedicated more than 25 years of service to the Texas Workforce | ||
Commission; he held esteemed management and supervisory | ||
positions that allowed him to make significant contributions to | ||
the economic development of Odessa and the Permian Basin region; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Crawford was actively involved in numerous | ||
community organizations, including the Black Chamber of Commerce | ||
of the Permian Basin, the West Texas Adult Literacy Council, | ||
Odessa Boys and Girls Club, and the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, | ||
and his remarkable service and dedication to the community were | ||
recognized with many prestigious awards; and | ||
WHEREAS, Odel was noted for his deep commitment to his | ||
faith and for his love of singing, cooking, traveling, and | ||
mentoring future generations; he was a source of inspiration to | ||
those around him through his unwavering strength, his passion for | ||
helping others, and his remarkable ability to build and connect | ||
communities, and his memory will long be cherished by all who | ||
were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Odel Crawford; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Odel Crawford. |
