A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 19.2-9.2, relating to copies of statements to law-enforcement officers or magistrates.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 19.2-9.2 as follows:

§19.2-9.2. Copies of statements to law-enforcement officers or magistrates.

Any person who provides a written statement or who makes an oral statement that is reduced to writing and signed by such person to any law-enforcement officer as defined in §9.1-101 or magistrate shall, upon request, be given a copy of the statement no later than three business days from the date of such request.
