HOUSE BILL NO. 355 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the Joint Conference Committee on March 4, 2024) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Cole) A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 22.1-296.5, relating to school boards; teachers; employment verification; requirement.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-296.5 as follows:

§22.1-296.5. Employment verification required.

Each school board shall respond within 10 working days of receiving a request for employment verification of a former employee of the school board when such verification is sought by another school board. As used in this section, "working day" means every day except Saturdays, Sundays, and legal state and federal holidays.
