HOUSE BILL NO. 665
AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the House Committee on Public Safety
on February 4, 2022)

A BILL to direct the Department of Corrections to study fees
in state correctional facilities.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. The Department of Corrections shall convene a work group to study implementation of the reduction or elimination of certain fees associated with inmates in state correctional facilities. Such work group shall consult with all relevant stakeholders. The Department shall report its findings and recommendations to the Chairmen of the Senate Committee on Rehabilitation and Social Services and the House Committee on Public Safety by October 1, 2022.
