HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 242
Commending Mike and Mary Dale.

WHEREAS, Mike and Mary Dale, respected community leaders in Culpeper who have donated countless hours of their time to support local events, received the 2015 Citizens of the Year Award from the Culpeper Times; and

WHEREAS, in 1966, Mike and Mary Dale moved to the United States from England and settled in Culpeper after Mike Dale chose the Culpeper Regional Airport to house his Percival Provost, a World War II trainer aircraft; and

WHEREAS, over the course of the next 50 years, Mike and Mary Dale built an unparalleled record of volunteerism in Culpeper, serving with the Culpeper Airport Advisory Committee, Culpeper Literacy Council, Culpeper Electoral Board, County Animal Advisory Committee, Culpeper Garden Club, Culpeper County Public Schools, Career Partners, Inc., and E Squared; and

WHEREAS, Mike and Mary Dale are well known for their involvement with the Culpeper AirFest, which has been recognized by the International Council of Airshows for its help in coordinating the Arsenal of Democracy Flyover in May 2015; and

WHEREAS, both humble and tireless in their dedication to strengthening the community, Mike and Mary Dale also received Culpeper County's highest service honor, the Culpeper Colonel Award, in 2012; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Mike and Mary Dale on being named the 2015 Citizens of the Year by the Culpeper Times; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mike and Mary Dale as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for their many contributions to the Culpeper community.
