WHEREAS, Ken Boyd, a hardworking public servant in the Key West subdivision of Albemarle County, retired as a member of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in 2015; and WHEREAS, a native of Washington, D.C., Ken Boyd relocated to Albemarle County in 1982; he enjoyed a long career as a financial professional in the banking industry, including at Jefferson National Bank, and started Boyd Financial Services in 1991; and WHEREAS, supporting the youth of the community, Ken Boyd served on the Albemarle County School Board for four years and the board of Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center for two years; and WHEREAS, Ken Boyd served as president of the Burley Middle School Parent Teacher Organization, first president of the Monticello High School Parent Teacher Student Organization, and vice-president of the Albemarle County Parents Association; and WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to his fellow residents, Ken Boyd was elected to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in 2003 and served as chair from 2007 to 2008; he served on numerous committees and worked to build a strong future for the region; and WHEREAS, Ken Boyd also represented the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors on the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority and the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority, where he helped establish the 50-year water plan; and WHEREAS, Ken Boyd helped strengthen and enhance the community as a member of the Computers4Kids Board, Lewis and Clark Exploratory Center Board, and the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, and he served as chair of the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Ken Boyd on the occasion of his retirement as a member of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in 2015; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ken Boyd as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his many contributions to the residents of Albemarle County and the Commonwealth. |
