WHEREAS, in the 2023–2024 school year, The Posse Foundation and QuestBridge collectively awarded six students in Arlington Public Schools four-year, full-ride college scholarships to partnering institutions of higher education; and
WHEREAS, The Posse Foundation presented full-ride scholarships to Rachel Nance of Arlington Tech at the Arlington Career Center and Maryam Elgindy of Washington-Liberty High School, both of whom will attend The College of William and Mary, and Rebqa Yohannes and Evelyn Rosales Mendez of Washington-Liberty High School, both of whom will attend the University of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, in addition to their scholarships, The Posse Foundation will also provide these students with comprehensive programmatic support over their next four years in college; and
WHEREAS, two other seniors at Arlington Public Schools were named QuestBridge Scholars and were awarded full-ride scholarships to some of the most prestigious institutions of higher education in the country; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Sparks of Arlington Tech at the Arlington Career Center will attend Princeton University and Amma Domme Baffour of Wakefield High School will attend Boston College; and
WHEREAS, in addition to their scholarships, QuestBridge scholarship recipients who attend its college and university partners are supported in their college years and beyond through on-campus chapters and nationwide opportunities offered through the QuestBridge Scholars Network and QuestBridge Alumni Association; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Arlington Public Schools' recipients of The Posse Foundation or QuestBridge scholarships for their hard work and dedication to their studies; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Arlington Public Schools' recipients of The Posse Foundation or QuestBridge scholarships as an expression of the General Assembly's heartfelt congratulations and best wishes in their future endeavors.
