WHEREAS, Harold Swisher admirably represented the citizens of the Town of Amherst as a member of the Amherst Town Council from July 1, 2006, through December 31, 2010; and WHEREAS, Harold Swisher served as chairman of the Ordinance Committee and as a member of the Personnel Committee; he worked hard to meet his responsibilities with diligence and care; and WHEREAS, as a member of the Amherst Town Council, Harold Swisher gave generously of his time, attending meetings, responding to the concerns of residents, and researching and studying the issues that came before him in order to best serve the community he held in such high esteem; and WHEREAS, Harold Swisher strove to make the Town of Amherst a good place to live, work, and raise a family, a place with strong small-town values and one that its residents are proud to call home; and WHEREAS, devoting many hours to working with the residents of the Town of Amherst, Harold Swisher remained committed to the welfare and safety of his community and diligently worked to find ways to improve it; and WHEREAS, Harold Swisher set a high standard as he worked with the citizens of Amherst; he focused on ensuring the efficient and effective operation of local government, especially in his close collaboration with fellow members of the Town Council and the town staff; and WHEREAS, in his four years of exemplary service, Harold Swisher demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and responsibility as he served the Town of Amherst; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend a dedicated public servant and outstanding Virginian, Harold Swisher; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Harold Swisher as an expression of the General Assembly's respect and appreciation for his many contributions and years of service to the Town of Amherst. |
