WHEREAS, the Lunenburg County Dixie Youth Baseball Major League All-Star team capped off a successful season with a victory in the Dixie Youth World Series in 2023; and
WHEREAS, after finishing the 2022 season as the Dixie Youth World Series runners-up, the Lunenburg County Dixie Youth Baseball Major League All-Star team repeated their winning ways in 2023, winning the district championship in Blackstone and the state championship in Prince George County; and
WHEREAS, at the 2023 Dixie Youth World Series, held in Ruston, Louisiana, the Lunenburg County Dixie Youth Baseball Major League All-Star team outscored all their opponents in the Dixie Youth World Series 61 to 18 across seven games and became the first youth baseball team from Lunenburg County to win the tournament; and
WHEREAS, the pitchers for the Dixie Youth World Series, Blake Overby, Bryan Long, Vaden Liles, Reed Nowlin, and Christopher Walker had 63 strikeouts in 37 innings; and
WHEREAS, Colt Camp won the batting title by batting over .600, with several players batting above .500 and the entire team batting over .400; and
WHEREAS, throughout the season, the Lunenburg County Dixie Youth Baseball Major League All-Star team benefited from the leadership and guidance of manager Brian Nowlin and coaches Nate Nowlin and Vance Liles, as well as the dedicated support of family members, friends, and fans; and
WHEREAS, the successful season is a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the team members, Colt Camp, Anthony Elliott, Reed Hite, James Levine, Vaden Liles, Bryan Long, Reed Nowlin, Blake Overby, Landon Parker, Christopher Walker, and Jayden Williams; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Lunenburg County Dixie Youth Baseball Major League All-Star team hereby be commended on winning the Dixie Youth World Series in 2023; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Lunenburg County Dixie Youth Baseball Major League All-Star team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievements and best wishes for the future.
