WHEREAS, the Blacksburg High School boys' swim and dive team won the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship in 2024; and
WHEREAS, with a final score of 284 points, the Blacksburg High School Bruins defeated the runners-up from Jefferson Forest High School by nine points; and
WHEREAS, senior Theo Villanueva led the Blacksburg Bruins by winning his second consecutive state championship in the one-meter diving event; and
WHEREAS, the victory was a true team effort, with multiple Blacksburg Bruins scoring crucial points by finishing in second place, including three such finishes from senior Sam Reilly; and
WHEREAS, the successful season is a testament to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of the coaches and staff, and the passionate support of family members, friends, and the entire Blacksburg High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Blacksburg High School boys' swim and dive team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship in 2024; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Blacksburg High School boys' swim and dive team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's athletic accomplishments.
