Commending Harriet Tillman Harris.

WHEREAS, Harriet Tillman Harris has greatly served the Caroline County community over many years in her capacity as an educator and church leader; and

WHEREAS, born in 1935, Harriet Tillman Harris graduated from Virginia Union University before earning a master's degree in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and a master's degree in education from the University of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, over 41 years as an educator in Caroline County, Harriet Tillman Harris made an immeasurable impact on the academic, social, and emotional well-being of the thousands of students she taught and mentored; and

WHEREAS, Harriet Tillman Harris spearheaded Caroline County's Head Start program, helping an untold number of young people embark upon their educational journeys with the skills needed to succeed; and

WHEREAS, a lifetime member of Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dawn, Harriet Tillman Harris has served her community as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, treasurer of the Little Light Society Ministry, and member of the Missionary Society; and

WHEREAS, through her unwavering resolve to better her community, Harriet Tillman Harris embodies the values of servant leadership and is an inspiration to all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Harriet Tillman Harris, a cherished member of the Caroline County community, hereby be commended for her dedication and legacy of service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Harriet Tillman Harris as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to Caroline County and the Commonwealth.
