WHEREAS, for 50 years, Clarksville Auto Supply, Inc., has maintained a reputation as a trusted automotive parts retailer in the region and enhanced local life by supporting numerous charitable organizations and community events; and
WHEREAS, Clarksville Auto Supply was established in 1974, when Jim and Susan Nutter moved to the area from West Virginia to start their own NAPA Auto Parts store; and
WHEREAS, Clarksville Auto Supply became well known for its high-quality parts, exceptional customer service, and good community stewardship; in 1985, the Nutter family built a larger building that serves as the store's current location, and they subsequently expanded the store's customer base by offering heavy duty parts; and
WHEREAS, Jim and Susan Nutter's sons, Mark and Drew, began working at Clarksville Auto Supply as teenagers and both returned to the family business after college; Drew's sons, Tyler and Scott, have since become the third generation of the Nutter family to join the business; and
WHEREAS, Mark and Drew Nutter officially became the new owners after their parents' retirement and have continued to grow and expand the business, opening a second NAPA Auto Parts location in South Boston; and
WHEREAS, Clarksville Auto Supply is a seven-time winner of the NAPA Five Star Excellence Award, which recognizes a store for its achievements in key performance areas and commitment to outstanding customer service; and
WHEREAS, since Clarksville Auto Supply opened, the Nutter family has gone above and beyond to support and enhance the lives of its fellow Clarksville residents; and
WHEREAS, Clarksville Auto Supply is an active member of the Clarksville Lake Country Chamber of Commerce and won the organization's Business of the Year Award in 2007; the store is a sponsor for the Lake Life Live summer concert series and the annual Cindy Hite Memorial Golf Tournament, which has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Clarksville Auto Supply, Inc., hereby be commended on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mark and Drew Nutter, owners of Clarksville Auto Supply, Inc., as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the store's history and contributions to the Clarksville community.
